Fern Bench 2008

Sculptural Bench, Congleton Park (Grade II listed Victorian Park)
Based on the unfurling frond of Buckler's fern (found in a prominent display at the Park) and harks back to the Victorian mania for collecting ferns. Made of green oak, the shape gives it two distinct purposes; the straight part looking over the River Dane, the curved part looking inwards to encourage chatting.
Clients: Congleton Borough Council, Friends of Congleton Park
